23.04.2011 - "Love & Mersey on the 32nd International Beatles Convention"
On April 23 the annual International Beatles Convention, co-organized by Beatles Unlimited Magazine, again will take place in the impressive building of "Beeld & Geluid" (Sound & Vision institute) in Hilversum, The Netherlands.
In the "Grote Beatles Doordraai" show Machgiel Bakker, the music specialist of Sound & Vision, will dive into the immense music archive of the institute. He will bring out exceptional Beatles versions that will be played through with Beatles tribute band Love & Mersey. The Dutch version of This Boy and the Strings Only version of Eleanor Rigby with live a-capella will certainly be presented. But Bakker will also give the recordings of Beat Oma with her out-of-tune version of A Hard Day's Night a spin. Afterwards the band will play a set from 17.00 until 17.30

Love & Mersey plays the Beatles in Russian: Snova v SSSR!
The Dutch Beatles Tribute Band 'Love and Mersey' has a very special relationship with Russia and Belarus. With 'Mal Evans Memorial Band' the band members played for 10,000 enthousiastic fans at the "Beatles Forever" Festival in Minsk in 2007 and have great memories. Backstage lead singer Marcel also met Anna from Moscow there for the first time. They married last year!
As a friendly gesture to their friends and Beatles fans in the former USSR, the band recorded a unique version of the Beatles song "Back in the USSR": In Russian! The original lyrics were translated by Anna Krasnopeeva and Marcel produced a special video with film material of the visit to Minsk and Marcel's many visits to Russia. 23.12.2010 - "Another year over, a new one Just Begun ..."
Dear friends,
Love & Mersey ended the 2010 season late November at a big party in Zoetermeer Estrado. And as usual there was also plenty of audience singing and dancing. The organization, in this case a sympathetic couple that wanted to celebrate their life in grand style, was enthusiastic about
the band, judging by the warm words they left behind in our guestbook.
We kick off 2011 in Leiden. On January 19th we play at The Old Harmony (http://www.oudeharmonie.nl/) as part of the Leiden Jazz Week program: (http://www.leidsejazzweek.nl/).
We do that night again a comprehensive "greatest hits" set of The Beatles. Great to all again
hits in authentic package to pass in review.
Unfortunately 2010 was also the year that we had to say goodbye to Kris and Tessa. Kris was unfortunately too busy with her new study, and occurs Agenda Tessa also got overheated. We will do our female Beatles mates sorely missed but obviously fully understand their decision.
We wish them all the best and we continue to follow each other.
The place has been taken by Menage Eus (see "Band"). Eus is an old friend of some band members and belongs, without exaggeration, to the top of the Dutch players guild (as Roel guess!). He plays again on a Gretsch Country Gentleman in 1965, the same George regular guitar with The Beatles touched.
The place behind the drums of Tessa is again filled by a female super talent: Winnie Haarhuis. Besides drumming in Love & Mersey she's also singer / songwriter. In 2008 and in 2009 she was selected for the Popronde (Popround) and was support act of Dutch pride and well known band Racoon. In 2010 she was selected for the quarterfinals of the Grand Prix of the Netherlands.

Dear Beatlespeople. In front of you the brand new website of a brand new band: ‘Love & Mersey’, a tribute to The Beatles! It's not been finished yet. We'll be working on the layout and the content during the weeks to come.
‘Love & Mersey’; a group of experienced and dedicated musicians who interpret the music of the Beatles true in letter and spirit. A performance of ‘Love & Mersey’ is a trip down memory lane. A sixties experience to never forget. ‘Love & Mersey’ is probably the best Beatles Tribute Band found in the Netherlands. Its members are talented and professional
musicians with excellent credentials in popmusic and playing the music of the Beatles.
Its core originates in the memorable Mal Evans Memorial Band which was awarded the first Golden Apple Award as best Beatles Tribute Band by ‘Beatles Unlimited’ in 2005. The band performed 3 years in a row during the prestigious Beatle week in Liverpool where they played the famous stage of the Cavern several times. They also played a tremendous show before a 10.000 strong frenzied audience at the Beatles Festival in Belarus, introduced their CD ‘The Beatles in het Nederlands’ (The Beatles in Dutch) on Dutch national television, performed with orchestras, on rooftops and on the canals of Utrecht with thousands of people on the sunny quay sides. The band was well-known and managed to leave an unforgettable impression on Beatle fans in the international Beatles circuit.
This heart of ‘Love & Mersey’ is completed with two conservatory schooled and attractive musicians from Macca. This McCartney tribute band had its promising debut during the 29th International Beatles convention at the Musketon Theatre in Utrecht and performed successfully during the Night of Culture in Houten. They were especially praised by Beatle experts for their performances of the often quite difficult McCartney/Wings classics.
